Hi there,I encountered your blogspot earlier this year and this afternoon I have been going back into your previous offerings and downloading the files that interest me.Thank you for all the efforts you undertake to service this blog - very much appreciated.I do hope that you will not go down the path of a pre-occupation of 24/96 or is it 94/24 files - I see a few creeping in though!! A fad which a number of eminent acoustic experts see no merit in, finding no advantage over 320kps MP3. I prefer the smaller file sizes - 24/96 or whatever takes up valuable space on my hard drive, and I cannot determine a quality of sound advantage. I guess it is a fad for those who have too much money to spend.Thanking you for all your hard work.Cheers,Douglas (UK)
Hi again,Following on from my previous post - this article might be of interest to some of your correspondents. I am happy NOT to perceive any differences - or I am persuaded not to hear any differences, as I do not want to spend great deals of money to improve my hi-fi, for possibly an imperceivable gain in quality (law of diminishing returns) - which additionally, bearing my age, I am probably not able to distinguish.http://www.mcelhearn.com/well-crafted-study-shows-listeners-cannot-distinguish-between-cd-quality-and-high-resolution-music-files/Hope this proves interesting to some.End of rant!Cheers,Douglas (UK)
Thank you so much for your appreciations Douglas.Regards from Canary IslandsJuan
You are lucky if you cannot hear any difference between 24 bit recordings and 320kbps mp3's. It will save you a lot of money. Unfortunately for me there is a huge difference on my equipment. I can see that CD vs 24 bit will also be difficult for some people to hear a difference. I recently was anble to compare 24 bit against 16 bit on some very expensive NAIM equipment. There was a difference of night and day between them. Probably not so much on lesser equipment.
Hi Juan,Thank you for your "gentle" response.I am considering a trip to the Canaries in the New Year to do some hiking - and I would very much like to attend concerts by your "local" symphony orchestra. I have many recordings of the Tenerife orchestra - some very, very good. Perhaps you could share this orchestra with the "world" by uploading some of their recordings (but not in 24/96!).Is it easy to get hold of tickets for their concerts? Or are they like "gold dust"?Thanking you in anticipation.Cheers,Douglas (UK)
